It seems we have yet another Taylor Sheridan co-production series to add to that list of renewed ones. Mayor of Kingstown , which is a crime drama that aired on Paramount, is now confirming its return with season 4.
This news arrived several months after the third season ended the summer with the show’s viewers waiting for a wrap up of these many loose ends. Starring Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), the production has been a viewers’ favorite in its previous editions, ranking No. 1 on the streaming service every year.
Mayor of Kingstown with the third season saw Renner back in his skin playing Mike McLusky after he was severely injured in a snow plow accident in real life in 2023.
His muscles can be seen in his work, and the third version is impressive evidence of the actor’s persistence. Through the last episodes spectators saw that Mike and his people faced the biggest threat – a group Russian mobsters who considered the city as their territory.
When drugs were introduced in the street and the local prison, Mike had a lot on his hands. Most of that drama concluded and tied up pretty effectively before the credits rolled on the season finale, so we’re not exactly sure where things are going in the show’s fourth season, but we do know there’s lots of action and crime-adjacent plotlines on the horizon.
Every indication has been on the fact that Mayor of Kingstown’s Season 4 renewal was in the pipeline since late October, when it was disclosed that the production’s writer, the executive producer, and showrunner David Erickson had re-upped his overall deal with MTV Entertainment Studios.
We also had the chance to see that the writers’ room for Season 4 was working again, another sign that a renewal was coming. That news, plus a Rotten Tomatoes rating of around 8.0 or higher for Season 3 would which meant the next set of episodes were pretty much a no-brainer.
With official Yellowstone done and over with, creator Sheridan is probably ready to sit back, take it easy – or not. No doubt the renewal of Mayor of Kingstown for another season, Season 4, will be music to Sheridan’s ears, especially knowing that the production which he co-wrote with Hugh Dillon will continue at least for a little while longer.
Besides that, Yellowstone’s universe creator has plenty of other projects on a roll; a finale with Lioness, Season two to be precise, and Landman that is taking the viewership by the storm.
